Description Classes

Whether you are working with an injury or special condition, want to incorporate yoga into a specific athletic training regimen, or simply have a desire to relax and renew on a deeper level with the benefit of one-on-one attention, private or small-group sessions might be the perfect choice.  

Small Group classes can be arranged with specific area’s covered at your request.

SEMI-PRIVATE/PRIVATE GROUPS

Benefits of Small Group Classes:

Whether you would like to practice yoga with your favorite friends or in a small group of like-minded yogis/-inis, small groups are a wonderful choice for those who like individual attention and the group dynamic. The small to medium size of a group allows the teacher to specifically design and focus on a particular area or work towards a specific goal at the group's request. Group classes request have reached from preparation for golfing season, skiing, getting ready for summer, to simply helping the body and mind to become more in-sync.

 and the class is specifically designed according to what is required.

With medium group classes, the group can focus on a particular area ie Yoga for Runners, Yoga xxxxxxx.

Cost:

  • cost depend on the size of the group

  • a minimum of 6 sessions to be booked is recommended

These classes can be held at a venue of your choice or in the healing center in Mashpee.

1-ON-1

Whether new to yoga, needing rehabilitation from an injury, or just wanting to take your practice deeper, 1-on-1 classes offer an unique opportunity to receive the attention you deserve and need.You will benefit from customized teaching, modifications, and homework assignments that deepen your connection to Self and are designed to help you reach your yoga and life objectives.

Cost:
  • pricing depends on length and quantity of sessions taken

  • Private classes are held either in the center in Mashpee

  • Due to high demand for classes, make sure to book your slots well in advance.

I came to Barbara with an acute mysterious muscular pain in my chest and she was able to turn me around with cupping and acupuncture in one appointment from crippling pain to breathing with ease in time to enjoy the holidays with my family.

Barbara is an amazing person and an amazing yoga instructor.  She teaches from her heart and truly cares about the well being of each of her students.  Her vinyasa and hatha classes are both challenging and rejuvenating and her restorative class  is meditative and relaxing.  I moved out of Boston two years ago and have not been able to find a comparable yoga instructor anywhere--Barbara is the best!

WEEKLY

Mondays:  6:15-7:15 pm

Unwind Yoga   Style: Hatha - All Levels

A gentle series of yoga postures is combined with mindful relaxation, meditative technique and plenty of breathing to gently stretch the body, clear the mind and calm the soul.

 

 

Tuesdays:  12:15-1:30 pm

Modified Restorative Class   Style: Barbara Dummermuth - All Levels 

A more active form of the true restorative class using gravity as the driving force. We gently stretch and strengthen the connective tissues, ligaments, sinews, muscles and joints.

The slow and repetitive routine can be very challenging. It will help the student to reach a depth and awareness of the body normally not achieved with the regular yoga routines.

The beauty of this class it can be taken by anyone even without prior yoga experience. It is not about performance but about listening and experiencing your body and learn about its potential.

 

NOTE: This class is unique in its form and was developed by Barbara Dummermuth, the founder of the Swiss Healing Center.

Yoga as we all know it is aimed to unite the mind, the body, and the spirit. Yogis view that the mind and the body are one, and that if it is given the right tools and taken to the right environment, it can find harmony and heal itself. Yoga therefore is considered therapeutic.

relaxation

Everyone finds it difficult to relax and unwind sometimes, here is a simple technique to help you wind down:


MEDITATION: Sit up straight, place both feet flat on the floor. Close your eyes. Begin to focus your attention on reciting, either loudly or quietly to yourself, a short mantra or positive statement such as “I am relaxed” or “I can let go” or anything you feel will work for you. Place one hand on your stomach and begin to sync your breath with your positive statement. Breathe in nice and slow, and breathe out nice and slow, (you might find it beneficial to count your breath (count to five as you inhale, and the exhale for the count of 5). Begin to let any distracting thoughts drift away and allow your tensions melt away.
